ARTIST STATEMENT AND BIO
1949 Tennessee – At no time during his nearly thirty-year career as a firefighter did noted, self-taught, carver, Edwin Jeffery, ever think that his childhood fascination with woodworking would lead him to a post-retirement career as an artist. “I carve because I want to make a name and leave a legacy for my family. I don’t really care about the money. I want to leave something that says ‘I lived here.’ I’m trying to leave a name to make my family proud.”
