ABOUT THE SHOW
This summer, the Loft revisits the idea of Diverted Destruction. In this second annual show, artists create art with found objects diverted from the landfill. Steve Olson, Maddy Le Mel, Melinda Smith Altshuler, Lark, SA Schimmel Gold, Ruben Acosta, Ramiro Perez, Savva Kornyshev and Juan Rosenfeldt incorporate household trash like used teabags, crushed cans, discarded mail and packaging into artworks designed to inspire you to look at your refuse in a new way.
This annual show is near to our hearts at Liz’s. Recycling and reuse are obviously important to us – the inventory of Liz’s Antique Hardware is comprised of millions of pieces of metal diverted from the landfill or the scrap metal yard.
During its run, from June 27 to September 15, the show will metamorphose, as new pieces by different artists are incorporated into the space. We invite artists to submit their found object work throughout the summer. PowerPlant Choppers custom motorcycles will be on display the night of the opening.
