Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, I grew up amidst its great architecture and severe weather.  Summers were spent at the shores of Lake Michigan near Kenosha Wisconsin. Those surroundings influenced my art profoundly. At the age of sixteen I left home life to begin college
at The University of Michigan where I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. My focus at the time was on Liberal Arts, with a major in Education. After graduating I began to take classes in art wherever I could find them. Having lived in Chicago, Cleveland, and San Antonio before settling in Los Angeles I found places of study in each location. While still in my twenties I returned to school, first to Pierce College, and later to California State University, Northridge where I received a second Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Art, both with distinction. I taught several classes in drawing and design at CSUN, and later wrote art criticism, having become a freelance writer for Artweek Magazine. During this time I continued to make art in Santa Monica studios where I have found myself enriched by the camaraderie of fellow artists. I now focus exclusively on making art and continue to paint as well as to make sculpture in three mediums: aluminum wiremesh, copper, and bronze.

The artists whose works most inspire me include: Richard Diebenkorn, Mark Rothko,
Vincent Van Gogh, Pierre Bonnard, and Alberto Giacometti though surely others affect me
greatly as well.
