Victoria Roberts is a Los Angeles native and has worked professionally in a variety of arts including animation, graphic art, ceramics, wood sculpture, and assemblage. She cut her artistic teeth at her father’s animation studio, inking and painting cells for TV and film, and after graduating from high school, did her Fine Art Foundation work at Sir John Cass College of Art in London . When returning to Los Angeles she found work as a graphic artist in a small design studio in Pasadena and continued her studies in art at Pasadena City College.

In 1987 Victoria left Los Angeles to work as a partner with artist David Zweifel. In their Central California studio they created ceramic and wood sculpture, exhibiting in galleries nation-wide. It was during this time that Victoria discovered her love for, and worked briefly in Assemblage, or Found Object Art, studying under Ron Robertson in Santa Barbara.

In 1998 after having worked in the antique and art business for many years, and returning to the Los Angeles area once again, her focus turned back to her own work and passion, Assemblage sculpture.

Artist Statement

The textures, colors, and shapes of this world never cease to amaze me. Everywhere I go I find pieces and parts that lure me to them, they speak to me, and whether I have to buy them, or pick them out of a trash can, it doesn’t matter to me. I am a firm believer in re-using what already exists, to resurrect, redistribute, and realign objects to new purposes. It is thrilling to me. When creating, these objects continue their dialog with me and help me tell my stories, even when it’s purely a sculptural aesthetic, they are all stories of one kind or another.
