INSECTICIDE AN ART EXHIBITION May 15 thru June 22, 2010
ARTIST STATEMENT
I’ve had a life-long fascination with insects and bugs. As a child, I’d rush home after school to see what the ants in our suburban driveway were doing. Lots of compelling things went on in their miniature world! The many different layers of life that are around us at all times continue to intrigue me. It’s exciting to see our commonality with all creatures — no matter how small. I love discovering a design detail on an insect or bug that I hadn’t noticed before, such as the notched pattern on wasps or the golden wings on a black, velvety carpenter bee. Anyone interesting who flies or crawls into my apartment usually gets drawn.
